What are your plans for Boxing Day this year? Big party? Just a few friends? Nothing at all?

Boxing Day is celebrated the day after Christmas, usually with social gatherings. Are you celebrating this year? http://www.mahalo.com/boxing-day

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Boxing Day is traditional holiday in Great Britain. We don't celebrate it in Belgium either. But I'd like to be in England one year on December 26th - I dream of this since 20 years... as Boxing Days programs seem definitely attractive!

We don't celebrate Boxing Day generally in the US. We are proud that we don't have any landed nobles.

On my visit to England, I gathered that the lord of the manor boxed up the remains of the Feast of the Epiphany the next day, and portioned it out to all his serfs.

We do celebrate something called Labor Day each September, and I daresay the idea is similar to your Boxing Day. The only difference being the corporations are the ones giving their "laborers" the day off. It is traditional to have a garden picnic that day.
