What are your favorite fighting games for any gen system?

Tip for best answer: M$0.37
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

One of my favourite fighting games would be the Mortal Kombat series because the final takedowns and other fighting moves are really good. I'd say my favourite character is Scorpion.

My favorite fighters are:

Tekken Tag Tournament
PS2: It has a massive library of fighters and the ability to mix and match teams adds to replay value. Just for fun there is a Bowling game that was thrown in as an extra and it is a blast.

Marvel Vs Capcom
Dreamcast: The team aspect and large library of characters are what win me over in this one as well

Rival Schools
Dreamcast: Team play fun characters, interesting story, and great special attacks make this game a winner.

Powerstone
Dreamcast: This fighting game had a very interesting eliment in that you could run through the environment picking up very strong power ups.

. . . wow this makes me want to dust off the Dreamcast! I had forgotten how many awesome fighting games were on that system.

my favorite fighting games are

Street Fighter II (SNES). If you truly love fighting games this is where it all began, characters, moves, special moves and the comuter AI was the bomb. This i by far one of the best if not the best fighting game of all time.

Mortal Kombat II (SNES). This game is just awesome if you thought Street Fighter was the bomb here comes a game with even more moves. Much better than its predecessor this game was a huge success with gaming fans especially in the arcades you had guys just lining up to waste sometimes $20 dollars on this game.

Tekken(Play Station) and i mean all of the tekken games. This is one of the most and hardest fighting game to master. One of the first 3D fighting games on any system when released you just wanted to play this. For me if you can truly master this game i would consider you a true fighter.

Killer Instinct(SNES) is one of the best fighting games. Similar to Mortal Kombat this fighting game was very rewarding when you pulled off the combo moves you could also break a combo by doing a combo breaker .

Soul Calibur (Sega Dreamcast) a very nice fighting game was awesome unfortunately the Dreamcast failed as a system. What i love best about this game was the mission mode and also changing the costumes of the characters superb.

Marvel vs Capcom 2(Playstation 2) this game is also a classic. what can i say with so much characters to choose from this game was priceless. the tag team fighting was great if you really want a fighting game to play this is the game.

Samurai Shodown (SNES) love this game characters and moves where great.

this is so nostalgic bring back finger blistering memories

I don't know whether The Wars can be classified in the fighting game, if it is, I'll say it is my favorite.
of course, it is just my own view.
