Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

My favourite band Manic Street Preachers actually do a great version of the Andy Williams classic "Can't Take My Eyes Off You".

Apart from that I like a cover that Metallica did of Thin Lizzy's "Whiskey In the Jar" (will post the original too, just in case some may not have heard it)

And also a Scottish group called Aztec Camera do a great version of Van Halen's "Jump".

I once DJed an entire evening of nothing but cover songs. Good covers and really bad covers alike can be a lot of fun. Here are three of my favorites.

Richard Cheese doing Baby Got Back - originally by Sir Mixalot

Johnny Cash performing Hurt - originally by Nine Inch Nails

Siouxsie and the Banshees performing Dear Prudence - originally by The Beatles

Wonderful question. I would love to put up answers to this all day long. Consider "Buddy Can You Spare a Dime?" This is a Great Depression song. I heard it done by Bing Crosby but think about all the great stars that have covered it like Tom Waits abd Bob Dylan...even Ronnie Lane from Faces. How about John Mayer doing Ray Charles' "I Don't Need No Doctor." Please do this question again!!!

Great question. There are many, many great covers, but lately I've been drawn to cover songs done by bands that are not from the same genre as the song. I'm thinking of The Gourds (a country band) doing Snoop Dogg's 'Gin and Juice' or Me First and the Gimme Gimmes (a punk band) doing covers from the 'Grease' soundtrack. Check them out, They're pretty cool.

Jeff Buckley's cover of Hallelujah. (He actually played it live in La Jolla, CA over 10 years ago one time in a small coffee shop for a small group of us and at the time I didn't realize how lucky I was to be a witness of his greatness. Epic.)
