By identifying numbers and adding them to the NO CALL list, calls on that list are automatically disconnected.
By allowing calls with no caller ID info to go directly to voice mail, combined with the NO CALL list, and you never have to speak to another telemarketer again.
All unidentified calls go to voice mail. The message on our answering machine says, "This call is being screened. After the tone, state your business. If we don't pick up, leave a message."
Most telemarketing calls are automated now. An agent only picks up if you answer. Setting your answering machine to pick up after 5 rings instead of fewer will also prevent telemarketers from reaching you. Their automated system hangs up after 4 rings and goes to the next number.
But, with the aforementioned call block ability of the phone we have now, they get a busy signal instead!
