As one of the eight Ivy League schools in the United States, Dartmouth College has over seventy majors and combinations of majors to select from. According to the Dean of Academic Affairs, students can major in traditional and popular areas such as Art, Art History, Music, Dance, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Drama and Theater, Business, Accounting, English, Literature, Linguistics, Economics, Sociology, History, Humanities, Spanish, French, German, Political Science, Finance, Elementary and Secondary Education, Civil Engineering, Psychology, Electrical Engineering, General Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Philosophy, Africana Studies, women Studies, Hispanic Studies, Cultural Studies, and Agriculture. Many students try for a dual major. Generally 120 credits are required for a Bachelors degree, which equates to 40 courses at 3 credits per course.
