What are the top three things that make sleep so important to the mind and body?

What makes sleep such a huge part of everyone's life? Would you say that sleep plays a bigger role then eating or other high needed parts of life? What exactly does sleep do for your body, and what would happen if you didn't get an efficient amount each night? Would someone be able to go a very long time without sleep without it effecting their whole life in some way?

These are the top three things that makes sleep important to mind and body:

1. Sleep help the body to repair itself. The body produces extra protein molecules while a person is sleeping and these molecules help mend the body at a cellular level. Damages due to stress, pollutants, infection, sun exposure and more will be repaired happily in the land of sleep.

2. Sleep helps a person's heart to be healthy. The heart and the cardiovascular system is always under pressure and sleep and it helps lower the levels of stress and inflammation in the body. Sleep can also help keep the blood pressure and cholesterol level low.

3. Sleep especially a good night's sleep can lower the blood pressure and lower the elevated levels of stress hormones which are caused by the current fast-paced lifestyle. By reducing these high levels of stress, sleep will help reverse the bad effect of it like aging and degeneration of organs and instead encourages a state of relaxation.
