What are the top three, must visit, amusement parks located in Russia?
My grandma is planning on taking me on a trip to Russia at some point in the near future, and since my little cousins are coming along we have decided to find where the top three amusement parks are located within Russia, if any and plan on going to one of those three locations. We are wanting a bigger theme park one that we could spend an entire day at. One that has plenty of areas to eat, an assortment of rides and is fun for all ages. All suggestions welcome!

I wish I could help with more specifically with your requests for an all-day amusement parks that works for a multi-generational trip. I don’t have first-hand experience with these parks, so I hope you get someone whose been to these or others. Here’s what I can share, though!
The only amusement parks I know anything about in Russia are the Gorky Park ones, and that’s because of the novel/movie. That said, I do believe the Gorky Parks are the most popular amusement parks in Russia, although they might seem a little unimpressive to visitors used to the Disney theme parks or Universal Studios parks.
Gorky Park, in Moscow, is the traditional amusement park in Russia. It opened in 1928 and an open park/amusement park area, and features beautiful gardens and public areas as well as rides. It was designed very much in the spirit of amusements parks of that period and earlier. (Think more like street fairs or carnivals with outdoor entertainment and some rides, more along the lines of Luna Park and Coney Island).
Today, it retains a sense of the small-time amusement park or carnival (e.g. small roller coasters, Ferris wheels, drop towers, swing rides, top spins, small motion simulation rides, etc.)
There are also Gorky Parks in Minsk and Perm.
I can’t really help with other popular amusement parks in Russia, at least in terms of definitive answers, but I can give you details on where to find information. Go to Roller Coaster Database, and search using the term “Russia.”
You’ll come up with about 20 places. A quick search shows that Moscow’s Luna Park looks to be still operational, so it would have historical appeal. And I know roller coaster aficionados like St. Petersburg’s Wonder Island for its Great Russian Mountain and Screaming Squirrel coasters. I also suspect Attractionmania, in Moscow’s All Russian Exhibition Centre (formerly the V.D.B.Kh.) is doing quite well. They’re adding a new roller coaster in 2010.
I hope you have a great time in Russia, and make sure you report back on where you visited!
