What are the top five Video games you have ever played?

What was the attraction of these games and what was the reason you found them to be the best?

When making this list of the top five video games, what do you use as the criteria for placing them on your personal favorite list?

Does your list compare with reviewers of the games listed on sites like Game Spot? Do these five games reflect the same game playing style or are they varied? Do you find that you enjoy first person shooter games as well as MMORPG or Horror games?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Oh to choose but five games!
My choices here are based solely on enjoyment factor. I have played a lot of different kinds of games for many, many years. Some of these are old, but they rock, so I’m including them anyways.
Final Fantasy VII – This is the only video game that every made me cry, because of a certain cut scene that I won’t mention and spoil for anyone who hasn’t played the game. After college I specifically bought a TV and a Playstation so I could play this game, it was that good.
Dune – Dune was the original real-time strategy (RTS) game that led to other successful series such as Command and Conquer, Warcraft, and Starcraft. The graphics were terrible, the people looked like pixilated stick people, but I’d still get chills when I heard the computer say “Worm Signs”.
Diablo II – This game was the first game I could really play with people over the internet, as opposed to a LAN. The story was great, the characters were fun, and boss fights were scary.
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess – I’m actually still playing this one, but it’s one of my all time favorites. It takes a great character and background story that I’ve always enjoyed, and adds the Wii control system and fabulous 3D graphics to create awesome gameplay. Only downside is I get nauseous if I play too long in wolf-form.
World of Warcraft – This game has held my attention for the last 5+ years, and I can’t say enough about it. Ever changing content, social interaction, challenging boss fights, and phat lootz. What more could a gamer ask for?

I love all kinds of games, but my favorite would have to be RPG game (role playing games for those who don't know). I find RPG games to have a certain sense of beauty, well the ones I enjoy at least....I also enjoy some shooter games, and on occasion racing games. In roder to make my top 5 list a game has to captivate me, with beautiful or creative scenery and game play, my games may be a little 'outdated' some being from a couple years ago but hey I love 'em!

So my top 5 consist of....

Eternal Sonata - I think this game is gorgeous! Plus I am a huge fan of the style of battle, where you take turns, good guy, bad guy, good guy, bad guy and so on! I think it makes the game more interesting and gives the players more of a chance to win the battles. I play the game on Xbox 360 but they have it on PS3 as well.

Tales of Vesperia - Also an awesome RPG game, different battle style but is still fun. It had some amazing moves called artes that can be learned, and they have some pretty nifty names. Plus the towns in the game are very detailed and something is always going on. I also play this on on the Xbox but they have it on ps3 as well.

Gears of War 2- This is the perfect game for me when I need to let out some aggression, kill some bad guys and even break their necks! :-D The weapons are awesome, and when playing on Xbox Live you never know where the bad guys will spawn next which makes the game even more interesting, plus I'm an achievement guru and this game is a blast when trying to achieve each one. I also play this on the 360.

Treasure Isle - This counts right? I'm hooked on this facebook game. I love digging for treasure and getting nifty little gifts from my buddies, it's one of those very simple yet extremely addicting games...

Sims 3 - Boy do I love controlling these little peoples lives! The Sims has so many options on what to do, career wise, how to create your families and how to live their lives, and even if a pesky in-law comes around you can lock them in a room with no doors! Not that I would ever do that...I swear..:-D

Here’s a picture from Eternal Sonata:

Well, now that I know that the games I play like Tetris and Bejeweled Blitz are considered (at least by some) to be actual video games, I guess my list would be:
Tetris
Bejeweled Blitz
Blackjack

This one is going to take some explaining. I was researching a page, How to Plan a Wizards of Waverly Place Theme Party, and I came upon a game at the Disney website. It's called Magic Duel. In the interest of research accuracy, I checked it out. Guess what? It's Bejeweled Blitz only for Wizards with Magic Spells and stuff! Since it was research for Mahalo.com I had no problem playing if for a couple of hours. My How To page was late, but I really understood that game! So, number 4 on my list is:
Magic Duel
It's going to be a stretch for number 5. I will really have to search the memory banks on that one. I may have to lie. If I have to stop at 4, does that mean I didn't actually answer the question? If I click on your first person shooter link, it will navigate me away from the page, but I think that might describe the games I play. Oops! Did a Google search. I am NOT a first person shooter. I learned today that I am a Female Casual Gamer. Pretty cool. I belong to a demographic. The downside is that I'm SO casual, I cannot come up with number 5! Pathetic.

Does Mahalo.com count as a video game? That's where I spend all my time.

Bioshock. I wasn't the biggest fan of the second one, but the first was amazing. The fusion between extremism and the downfall of a people was handled with such great depth.

Halo 1, 2 & 3. I have given far too many hours of my life to these games to leave them off.

Fallout 3, Painfully addicting.

Grand Theft Auto III. It's odd, but this game was so huge for everyone a few years ago.

Finally, I really love Mass Effect 2. I think it's another game that points to video games being able to match/overtake movies in terms of storytelling.
