what are the top blogs on the video game and japanese anime industry?

top 5 blogs for video games. example http://www.joystiq.com/ http://kotaku.com/

top 5 blogs for japanese anime/manga. example http://www.theanimeblog.com/ http://that.animeblogger.net/

top 5 blogs for funny pics and videos about video games and japanese anime/manga.

how they rank on Quancast and number of uniques, page views would be great for each blog.

I need to know who is the right person (someone in charge) to contact at a given blogging site and the best way to contact them, to start a relationship as an aggregator for them.

thanks.

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I can try to answer the anime/manga side of this:

http://www.theanimeblog.com/
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/blogs/ (has a listing of the blogs on Anime news network staff and industry blogs)
http://www.animenano.com/blogs/Join/1 (good listing of various blogs too)
http://randomc.animeblogger.net/ (I recommend this one)

Side note if you're looking for anime/manga related podcasts, I recommend this: http://www.animejamsession.com/
(Good friend of mine runs this, top notch stuff)

For video games:
http://www.joystiq.com/
http://www.1up.com/1upblogs?ct=BLOGS (1Up has a great listing of blogs related to various aspects of the vg industry)
http://www.thatvideogameblog.com/
http://videogames.techfresh.net/

Sorry it may not be that much or exactly what you were looking for, but did answer the anime/manga side which most didn't)

Top 5 for video games would have to be:
www.ign.com - quantcast numbers are blocked
www.kotaku.com as you mentioned - http://www.quantcast.com/kotaku.com
www.joystiq.com also - http://www.quantcast.com/joystiq.com
www.destructoid.com - http://www.quantcast.com/destructoid.com
I work for www.mmomfg.com, another video game blog, we are closer to the bottom, but here is something to scale by, considering we are fairly new - http://www.quantcast.com/mmomfg.com

As for manga, someone else will have to answer that. For games, I wouldn't stray an inch past that list above, though. As for whom to contact, anyone in PR, no one in specific, because they will net you the same results. All PR info for those website are located at the bottom of the individual pages.

For IGN, these are people who work for IGN I follow:
http://blogs.ign.com/daemon-IGN
http://blogs.ign.com/Greggy-IGN
http://blogs.ign.com/Jess-IGN
http://blogs.ign.com/Steimer-IGN
http://blogs.ign.com/meghan-ign

Every employee has one, for the most part. There are readers who blog at IGN, as well. You have to sift through a lot of stuff, but most of it is pretty decent, amazingly.

I think Dannychoo.com is probably one of the biggest blogs relating to Japanese culture. Danny is basically an otaku who owns the Mirai Inc. company in Japan.

He was also featured on Youtube, CNN, etc for his Stormtrooper dances, company, and more!
