The three theories model is out of date, because most physicists are pretty sure now that the universe will continue to rapidly expand outwards indefinitely.
However, the three theories were:
Universe would continue to expand indefinitely (best evidence that this one is true)
Universe would reach an equilibrium and stop expanding.
Universe would start to contract and eventually end in a "big crunch" or "big bounce." (where it starts all over again with another "big bang.")
