There are several symptoms of mold allergies. The problem is diagnosing it properly since the symptoms can mimic symptoms of other conditions and illnesses. Sometimes people don't even realize there is mold present and once the mold is removed, their symptoms go away promptly.

Exposure to mold can cause respiratory problems such as difficulty breathing and tightness in the chest. In fact, some people developo scar tissue in their lungs who are around high levels of mold. This is called lung sensativity. They can sometimes recover when the mold is removed but sometimes they never recover.

If you have coughing, runny nose, irritated eyes or throat, they may be signs of a mold allergy. Note that they symptoms are also present with a common cold or other allergies, so it's tough to tell without proper diagnosis. If one has asthma, mold can exacerbate those symptoms.

Hi @renaldob, the symptoms of mold allergy are very similar to the symptoms of other allergies.
These are sneezing, itching, nasal discharge, congestion and dry, scaling skin. Those people who are having mold allergies may have allergy symptoms the whole summer because of outdoor mold. Symptoms that are year-round are caused by indoor molds.

Mold spores usually are deposited on the lining of the nose and cause hay fever symptoms. They can affect the lungs when they reach there and cause asthma or another serious illness called allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis.

The reactions are sometimes immediate and sometimes delayed. The symptoms often worsen in a damp or moldy room like the basement.

It is common for people to get mold allergy if they or other family members are allergic to substance like pollen or animal dancer. There are also persons who have occupations that have exposure to mold and they are at higher risk of developing these kind of allergy. These occupations are farmers, dairymen, loggers, bakers, mill workers, carpenters, greenhouse employees, winemakers and furniture repairers.

Mold allergy symptoms vary from person to person and range from mild to severe. Mold spores are the reproductive part of a mold or fungus and this is what causes allergic reactions. Mold allergies typically cause the same signs and symptoms that occur in other types of upper respiratory allergies. Mold allergy symptoms can include:
1. Sneezing
2. Runny nose
3. Red, wattery and itchy eyes
4. Itching throat
5. Nasal congestion
6. Chronic cough
7. Reduced lung capacity and difficulty breathing
8. Sinusitis and/or headaches
People with mold allergies may have a reaction if exposed to the mold spores. Try to determine what the cause is and eliminate it.
