Bacterial Meningitis usually presents itself the same way in adults, although symptoms may take up to a week to develop. The most commonly experienced symptoms include a stiff neck, fever, headache, vomiting, and confusion. About one third of the time, the infected person will even have seizures. Some of the less common symptoms are localized weakness, usually in the face, joint pains, and a rash that may be mistaken for a bruise.
Symptoms in infants will be different. If your child in infected, you may notice a cry in a high pitch, trouble waking them up, a blank stare, vomiting, refusal of food, cold hands or feet, or a fever. If your infant shows these symptoms, seek medical help immediately, since Bacterial Meningitis can cause brain damage in a few hours, even death within 24 hours.

M$The real risk with bacterial meningitis is that its initial symptoms can often be dismissed by its victims as being something not serious.

M$What is different from the flu, though, is with meningitis the patient is often confused and his or her neck gets stiff. These are key differences. Also, there can be rashes or even seizures, with meningitis. Those are not common with the flu at all.
