What are the signs or symptoms of a bladder infection?

I have never had a bladder infection, in my life, and have no idea what the signs or symptoms would be.
We are trying to figure out if my daughter currently has a bladder infection. What would be the signs and or symptoms of a bladder infection? Can it be treated at home? Or do we need to visit the doctor. I love home remedies, so if there is something we can do at home, I would love to hear it. Thanks in advance!

Women are more susceptible to bladder infections than men are. The infections are usually caused by thee-coli bacteria. Sexual intercourse can sometimes cause infections, as well. Frequent urges to urinate is one of the most common symptoms, as well as pain or a burning sensation when urinating, nausea, and fever. Symptoms in children are less pronounced. Children may develop a fever with no other symptoms. They may seem more irritable than usual, and have loose bowels. There may or may not be a change in their bathroom use.

Prescription drugs often prescribed by the dacter for cure bladder infections are "anti-bacterial" drugs, like amoxicillin and ampicillin.

Natural remedies include:

Cranberries. 100% cranberry juice or extract should help. For those that don't like the taste, there are cranberries treatments in pill form at most drugstores.

A mixture of 1 teaspoon of honey added to 1 tablespoonful of fresh lime juice and 1 cup of cucumber juice, three times a day.

Add lemon juice to warm water and sip throughout the day.

St. John's Wort is used for treatment, as is echinacea.

If gone untreated, bladder infections can lead to kidney infections, which are very serious, so it's important to consult a doctor before waiting too long.

A bladder infection is also called cystitis and also referred as urinary tract infection. The bacteria often enters the urinary tract passing through the urethra and oftentimes move up into the bladder where it can multiply and cause an infection.

The signs and symptoms are:
1. urgency in urinating
2. increase frequency of urination
3. There is burning pain or dysuria when urinating
4. spams of the bladder
5. the urine is cloudy, bloody and foul smelling
6. lower back pain or pain in the abdomen
7. fatigue and feeling shaky
8. mild fever also occurs.

These are some home remedies for UTI:

1.Aside from cranberry juice that I have tried, water is one of the best home remedies. By drinking lots of water it will force you to urinate more often for this will help flush out the bacteria that cause the infection. It is recommended to drink 6-8 glasses of water every day.

2. Take Vitamin C for this will increase the urine acidity and helps prevent growth of bacteria

3. Herbs like echinacea contains substances that help fight infections. It is available in tea and you can drink this once a day after lunch or dinner or drink 300 mg Echinacea capsule or tables once a day. This is available in leading health stores.

There are a number of symptoms associated with UTIs. Bladder infections are characterized by an urgent desire to empty the bladder. Symptoms include frequent urination, burning or pain during urination (dysuria), bladder spasms and the feeling of having to urinate even though little or no urine actually comes out. In some cases, cloudy, bloody or foul-smelling urine, and maybe a mild fever can accompany a UTI.
