What are the side effects of Cinnamon?
What would be the side effects of a very elevated level of cinnamon consumption and is there a toxic level of cinnamon consumption? I eat a lot cinnamon on and/or in everything I eat for breakfast from apples to oatmeal and Cheerios to whole wheat toast.. a lot of cinnamon... on everything.

M$This article also mentions that cinnamon side effects are not experienced in every person who consumes cinnamon, even in large amounts. These side effects refer specifically to people who have a compromised immune system or certain medical conditions. On the upside, cinnamon is beneficial for stabilizing the blood sugar and blood pressure, reducing cholesterol, treating ulcers, and even fighting cold symptoms. Even if you do not care for the flavor of cinnamon, it is available in capsule form as a supplement.
In general cinnamon has no real nutritional value. It's actually the bark of a tree. Just like if you ground up the bark of a maple tree and ate it (minus the lovely taste) you wouldn't get any nutrition from it.
Since the flavor of cinnamon comes from it's oils there is a difference between fresh ground and pre-ground cinnamon. Think of it like Coffee. As soon as you grind coffee it starts to affect the oils in the beans and the flavor components (oils) start to break down. The closer to fresh ground the better.

M$Although cinnamon can cause side effects or adverse reactions such as gastrointestinal disturbances and local oral irritation, most side effects are mild and transient. There is emerging evidence that consuming cinnamon in any form is effective in reducing the risk for diabetes and for controlling blood sugar in the diabetic patient. It has even been shown that diabetics who consume cinnamon on a regular basis were able to decrease the need for their diabetes medications. Cinnamon has also been hailed as a natural antibiotic. So even though consuming excessive amounts of cinnamon can have some side effects, research is showing that it has many healthful benefits! Great question!

M$Just wanted to add that cinnamon in excessive amounts can have adverse reactions that should be discussed with a healthcare provider. Certain individuals can react differently to different amounts of spices such as cinnamon. Just to make sure, you might want to ask your doctor or other healthcare provider before you ingest excessive amounts of cinnamon.
Could you please add sources/research when you make medical statements like this? Thanks...

Excessive amounts, such as cinnamon capsules taken on a frequent basis might have adverse reactions. I got my info from this link.
I actually saw a report on the news that said taking 1 teaspoon of cinnamon daily can improve blood sugar levels. I don't remember which news broadcast I saw it on, however. The spice could be sprinkled on cereal and toast.
