Abilify is used to treat bipolar disorder, autism, schizophrenia, and depression, and as most drugs do have side effects for some people. In clinical tests, the most common side effect reported is headache, which effects approximately 27% of the users. Other common side effects include feeling fatigued, agitation and insomnia, vomiting, or constipation. These side effects were observed in 10 to 30% of those using Abilify compared to a control group of people who did not receive the drug. Some other effects that occurred in 2 to 10% of the group receiving Abilify are heartburn, dry mouth, joint pain, throat or stomach pains, dizziness, and shakiness. Although rare, there have been incidents of severe side effects from the drug and if any of these symptoms occur, call the doctor immediately. These include an increase in blood sugar, thoughts of suicide, raised blood pressure, abnormal muscle movements or stiffness. Fainting, rapid weight gain, confusion, and increased or irregular heart beats should also be reported to the doctor. The continued use of Abilify can cause permanent problems with muscle control.

Abilify is an atypical neuroleptic. some side effects are vomiting, dizziness, Aktasia (A sense of inner restlessness or need to move) fatigue, sleep disturbances (hypersomnia and insomnia)

Rare more serious long term adverse effects can include tardive dyskensia (permanent muscle jerks) tardive psychosis ( meaning your pyschosis is only controllable with a neuroleptic) and the acute neuroleptic malignant syndrome
