Ferrous metals – Include steel, pig iron (low carbon content) and alloys of iron with metals like stainless steel.
Non-ferrous metals – Metals other than iron and alloys (mixture of two or more metals with low iron content). A few of them are Tungsten, Molybdenum, Niobium, Tantalum.
Stainless steels - Includes 8 to 10% nickle combined with chromium. Cutlery and kitchen sinks are common steels of 304 grade with 8% nickel, 18% chromium and rest of iron. For corrosion resistance steel, 316 grade is used with same percentage of nickel and chromium with added 3% molybdenum. The rest comprises iron.
