What are the names of the parts of the stage?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

There are several parts to a stage. They are:
Upstage: the part of the stage nearest the audience. Don’t go too far upstage or you will become a spectator!
Downstage: the part of the stage that is furthest from the audience, near the back wall of the performance space on the stage.
Stage right: the side of the stage that is located to the right of the actor, when she is facing the audience. So, stage right for the actor is actually to the left of the audience.
Stage left: obviously, the other side in relation to the above.
Fourth wall: the imaginary wall that would be in place if the edge of the stage had a wall there, instead of dropping off into the audience. The fourth wall can also refer to the wall at the very back of the auditorium, behind the audience. In this case, this would be near the front of the building that houses the theatre.
