What are the most popular E-Commerce/shopping cart software suites?
Specifically, I'd like to know user-base size (or at least market share percentages). For example, I know that osCommerce is a popular E-Commerce solution. I'd like to know how many web sites are running osCommerce, or at least how much market share osCommerce has. I'd like this list to include both hosted and unhosted solutions.
- Hosted solutions are those that don't need to be installed on a web server. They 'run' off of the service provider's servers. Examples of hosted solutions include: Yahoo Merchant, goEmerchant, GoDaddy, etc.
- Unhosted solutions are those that need to be installed on a vendor's web server. The vendor must secure web hosting and install the software to their web host. Examples of unhosted solutions include: Zen Cart, osCommerce, Joomla, Shop Script, Ubercart, etc.
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

That's a tough question, it does seem like something that would be asked all the time, but it's also in that realm of information that is valuable to some and probably gets sold more often then published.
It sounds like you've already done an extensive search and I just checked with a few sources and it's unlikely you'll find up-to-date data on that subject for free (not saying its not out there, but it will be a challenge for anybody to find)
You can probably narrow the marketshare down to 10 however, I found this great article. I Hope it helps, and maybe even contact the journalist perhaps these numbers came up in his research.
