The major costs for the healthcare industry are insurance and Emergency Departments. Because they must treat everyone who shows up at the doors, Emergency Rooms are impacted with non-emergent patients overfilling the the department and causing the extensive costs.
The industry will be massively effected by healthcare laws as the doctors and hospitals will be paid even less. While this does not sound like a problem it is in that the insurance rates against malpractice are not declining. This makes it very hard for doctors and hospitals to turn a profit on what they are paid. In addition, doctors and hospitals consistently pay out or settle in cases not because of guilt but because the legal system will cost them more in the long run. Tort reform should be first, then health care reform if people want it to be effective.
You can get life and health insurance for children. Most children are covered from the moment they are born on your health insurance. The federal government stipends insurance programs for children for states. State assistance is available for all children under the age of 18 and the law is likely to be changed to cover them until they are 21.
