What are the main uses of your food processor and blender?

How many of you own either of these machines? What do you mainly like to make with them? I own both, but I use the food processor more. I like to chop, slice and mince things like veggies, herbs, garlic and small onions in it. It really does save time in the kitchen, especially when you've got a big meal to prepare! Gets you out of the kitchen fast!!

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Hi @edwardclint. I have a small food processor - really a little mincer or chopping machine that I use to make homemade salsa and to prepare other fresh vegetables for salads or spreads. I got this item when my father moved out of his larger house and 'downsized'. I never had a food processor before and since bringing this item into my kitchen, I think I might just consider getting a real one.

The food processor in the photo looks amazing. Simply looking at the image inspires me to think about some fresh food ideas. I think the advantage of having great tools in the kitchen is that you gain not only time but better nutrition, as the food you tend to eat are fresher and healthier. Food processors can mix fruits, vegetables, soups, salads and many more examples of tasty blended flavors. It's nice to have a variety of textures and colors and food processors can help home cooks to prepare lots of fun foods.

I often use Household Blender for making smothies, shakes and malts and so on. Besides, we also use it for pureeing, chopping and even crushing ice. It is an important applicement in our kitchen.

I think that these machines are probably the most useful after my microwave oven. I use the food processor for making pastry and preparing fillings for things like Cornish Pasties but the blender I use more frequently for homemade soups. In the winter the favorite is leek and potato and in the summer gazpacho.

Mine is a hand blender, like in the picture, it's so easy to use because you just have to put it in the pan you have made the soup in, then give it a whizz. It's easy to tell whether the soup is blended enough, sometimes you want to leave a few pieces of vegetable intact rather than pureeing it completely.

The only thing you have to be careful of, is to make sure the blender is submerged in the soup before you start whizzing it. If you hold it in too shallow, you end up pebble-dashing the entire kitchen and yourself!

Whew! I use my food processor and blender for so many things. I actually got mine as a wedding gift from my aunt and didn’t make much use of it until I had my baby. It does makes my cooking faster.

I use the food processor / blender for making different types of smoothies for my family. It has really come handy this summer. I also use it to puree fresh tomatoes, all kinds of fruits, dice carrots, slice veggies for salad, mince garlic and onions and also grind nuts.

Recently I started using the blender to grind cubes of ice to use with our drinks ,extract juice from fruits like pomegranate and make easy breakfasts like omelets.

Just like you said, it really saves time in the kitchen.
