What are the lowest and highest speeds you have used on an Internet connection?

I may have been connected at 75 baud on telnet in 1987. Yes, 1987! In the early 90's, it began as 300 baud. Quickly moved on to 1200, then soon 9600, then we were excited by 14,400 and 28,800 and then whoa, 56K! First cable modem we had was 512k, first DSL modem was up to 8Mbps. Now 20Mbps is available and I'm waiting for 100Mbps fiber this coming year. What about you?
Tip for best answer: M$0.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

My first modem was a 2400 baud internal.

Fastest internet access speed I've used has been surfing on a county's OC3 fiber optic pipe, zoooom.

The slowest for me was 300 baud, also in 1987. The first one that I had to pay from my own pocket was 14.4K. Right now $50 or so per month pays for my insanely fast home connection (see today's test below).

For the past decade my home connection has always been faster than the network connection at work. And the connection at work costs thousands of dollars.

14.4 modem was the slowest for me and the fastest was when I was a student at the University of Maryland and we had a direct connection to one of the backbones of the internet.

I have fios now and it is actually a bit slower than when I had optimum (10mbit v. 15mbit) but still plenty fast.

I never ran a speed test, but I also had a rather fast T1 connection practically to myself one summer while working at Northwestern University in 1999-2000.

I don't remember the lowest speed that I've used. Prob my palm VII from a while ago but my current speed is my fastest. This is about half of what I normally get.

The Lowest speed I have used is 30 baud using a Novation CAT audio coupled modem.

The fastest is approximately 5gb. Time Warner Cable.
They say it is 6gb but it averages about 4gb and 5gb is the fastest test I have ever seen.

The highest is about 15,000,000 times faster than the slowest.
