There is really very little recent information about the long term effects of clubbed feet, or the longterm prognosis for those that had surgery to repair this condition. However, in a report published by the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery in 1980, the general consensus among orthopedists and surgeons was that it has more to do with how the individual feels about it than anything else. The results can vary among many people that have had this kind of surgery and treatment as a young child, but really the better way to gauge the longterm effects of the surgery itself is by deciding how you feel and how your feet look today.

Most of the people that had this surgery early on reported that they were able to engage in regular athletic activities in their teens and that by the time they were 18, the feet appeared fairly close to normal. However, there are still some people who had clubbed feet as children or who were born with this condition that still have some pain when walking or running. In addition, X-rays in later years revealed that the condition is not completely reversed by the surgeries or follow up treatments. Despite repairing the bone, the damage done to tendons and ligaments is nearly impossible to fix. Because of this, a lot of people who have undergone surgery to repair clubbed feet still notice that their toes still turn inward slightly or find themselves standing on the sides of their feet.

In short, the long-term results are highly individual. Some cases of clubbed feet are much more severe than others, and not all surgeries and treatments have the same outcome. I think it is wonderful that you continue to run, and I hope that you can continue to do that for many more years.
