What are the largest religious statues/buildings/displays?

Like this, the Spring Temple Buddha which is 420 feet tall, completed in 2002 in China.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

That is insane. Can you imagine spending 90 years carving this thing?

FTA:
"When funding for the project was threatened, he is said to have gouged out his own eyes to show his piety and sincerity."
That is dedication.

What a shrimp! He doesn't come up to Buddha's waist, and Buddha is sitting down.

Oh, sure. Anybody can build a statue of a *whole* person that is on a grand scale, but how about the 60 ft, 30 ton, bronze Praying Hands at ORU in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Can you imagine the size of the guy they cut these off of?! :)

I saw them when I was out visiting a college buddy in Tulsa many years ago. Very...unusual place, ORU. Not my cup of tea.

Luang Pho To or Phrasiariyametri at Wat Intharawihan or Wat Intharavihan

Wat Intharawihan or Wat Intharavihan (วัดอินทรวิหาร) is a wat located in the Nakhon District of Bangkok, Thailand. It was built at the beginning of the Ayutthaya period and was originally called Wat Rai Phrik.

One of the main features is a 32-metre high, 10-meter wide standing Buddha referred to as Luang Pho To or Phrasiariyametri. It took over 60 years to complete and is decorated in glass mosaics and 24-carat gold. The topknot of the Buddha image contains a relic of Lord Buddha brought from Sri Lanka.

It is an awesome feeling to stand before this Buddha image that reaches to the sky at 32 metres tall.

The Angkor Wat temple in Cambodia, originally used for Hindu and later Buddhist practices, was constructed in the 12th century. It is HUGE!
