You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

There are many multi-national companies based in Ireland, some of the most notable being
Pfizer and GlaxoSmithKline (pharmaceuticals)
Dell and Intel (Information Technology)
Boston Scientific (medical devices)
Ireland's most important indigenous industry by far is food and beverage production.
Some of the biggest food companies would be Glanbia, Greencore and Kerry Group.
Guinness and Bulmer's Irish Cider (product known internationally as Magner's) are two of the biggest brands of alcoholic beverage that are produced in Ireland.
Guinness is now owned by a UK-based conglomerate called Diageo, but still produced in the same area of Dublin.
Bulmers' parent company is Cantrell and Cochrane, who traditionally oversaw a whole host of Irish alcoholic and non-alcoholic brands but have been selling off a lot of them in recent years.
Irish Distillers oversees most whiskey production in Ireland, but is itself owned by a French company, Pernod-Ricard.
Ireland's GDP (PPP) in 2009 was US $188 billion according to the IMF.

Ireland's GDP to debt to GDP would be $95/188 or 50%
Does that sound right to you?
For government debt, an exact figure is quoted below.
--Quote--
Irish Government debt at the end of January was €78 billion (approx US$95 billion), an increase of €6.7 billion since the end of December, and reflecting a €5 billion bond issue in January.

I would agree with your figure of 50%. Greece is around 90%, which is what has led to their problems
