What are the funniest movies of all time?

Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

There have been some great comedy movies made over the years, these are some of the ones I have fond memories of having a really good laugh at;

All the old black and white films made by the Marx Brothers and Laurel and Hardy
The Wrong Box
The Caddy Shack
All the Pink Panther films
Blazing Saddles
The Life of Brian
History of the World Part One
The Carry On series of films
The Naked Gun
Airplane
All the National Lampoons films
Young Frankenstein
Monty Python and The Holy Grail
The Producers
Trading Places
Down and out in Beverly Hills

There is nothing like a really funny movie to make you feel better, I wish there were more of them made, it makes such a refreshing change from the depressing realism of some of the others.

Hey wmay

Dimitri Martin has this great bit that goes, “They should put a pie on the front of every train. That way when it hits something, at least it’s a little bit funny.” True, that the pie in the face is eternally funny. But I think humor has evolved, or devolved, depending upon your perspective.

I love the classics, and the AMC website and Premiere Magazine tout the likes of Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Laurel and Hardy, and the Marx Brothers as the funniest of all time. I agree that they were forerunners and innovators, and I sure do appreciate the nostalgia. But the last time I watched the old classics, I was internally amused, but didn’t get hit with the involuntary audible LOL that make your gut ache.

So here’s my list of films that do just that:

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
Groundhog Day
Blazing Saddles
Roxanne
Beverly Hills Cop
Nacho Libre
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Office Space
Liar Liar
What About Bob
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
Tommy Boy
The Naked Gun
Home Alone
Austin Powers
Dumb and Dumber
Clerks
Ace Ventura, When Nature Calls
Swingers
.....the list goes on....
