What are the features of Amazon EC2?
Can it place instances on multiple locations of Regions and Availability Zones? Does it enable me to engineer around software or instance problems by quickly remapping my Elastic IP address? Will its VM import feature allow me to leverage existing investments on virtual machines built for IT security?

Amazon EC2 is a new business strategy launched by Amazon.com that plays a central role on Amazon’s cloud computing platform and allows users to rent virtual computers on which to manage their computer applications. A user can create, launch, and terminate server requests when needed, paying by the hour for active servers, making the term elastic. This service provides users with control over the geographical location of instances which allows for latency optimization and high levels of redundancy.
Amazon EC2 has numerous powerful features designed for building scalable, failure resilient, and enterprise class applications. These include Amazon Elastic Block Store, Multiple Locations Elastic, IP Addresses, Amazon Virtual Private Cloud, Amazon CloudWatch, Auto Scaling, Elastic Load Balancing, Elastic Load Balancing, High Performance Computing (HPC) Clusters, and VM Import.
