Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

I would like to answer your question in general views about some disadvantages of forced marriages as follows:

1. There is no freedom to choose your own spouse
You and your spouse sometimes may end up unhappy after being married a few years due to unsuitable choice that can lead to divorce.

2. You might not love your spouse
This can lead you to find others more suitable for you

3. You might have interference from extended family

For some Muslims, it may find this relationship as a little awkward and uncomfortable. There may be some marital arguments and conflicts that can be settled better when only the spouses are involved. Thus the interference on their views can cause stress to the marriage.

I hope those would help you.

It's not as healthy or as good and you can tell the difference.

As someone from a culture that does not have arranged marriages, I would have to say that some of the disadvantages would be:
- you may not love or even like your spouse.
- you don't know what your spouse will be like; personality, how he/she would treat you, etc...
- you don't know what your in-laws are like
- no choice who you would be spending the rest of your life with

I think that there would be too many "ifs" or "unknowns:" to an arranged marriage.
