What are the demographics for viewers of the Travel Channel? (I have to pitch them on Monday! Advice?)

I'm going to be conducting first hand research tonight in D.C. by asking if people are viewers and then asking what they think about the programming if they are. A "best" answer will be one that helps me think about the demographic in such a way that I can better craft my pitch to support why my show would fit well on their network. (I know it will fit, but I want it to be targeted at a couple of specific age groups and WANT TO KNOW WHY they watch the Travel Channel programming. Don't just give stats.) I've found a couple of message boards online that showed how some were not satisfied with the content. I'd like to learn more about the people who are satisfied and what they like and why. You can view more info about my show at http://www.ceointern.com/

Going by what others have said, I'd say that is too broad of a spectrum. Im sure when you pitch them you should include those 25-54yr old age demographics, but as someone who travels extensively, i can tell you that when i travel by freight boat or in places that aren't too touristy,.. the main types of americans that i run across abroad are either retirees/retiree couples and younger people who are either on break or just finished with college. These are the 2 demos i would concentrate on when i pitch them. it will show that you didnt just look up the stats on their channel and conducted your own field research. Good luck with your pitch!

Just from logic, i'd say the viewers are people who can't travel for the most part. As crazy as that sounds, people who want to see places they won't be able to see in person.

* Men 25-54
* Persons 25-54
* Women 25-54

Time Warner says the demographics are men and women ages 25-54: http://www.cablemediasales.com/pages/nets/?cp=nets&sp=info&net=trav

Cablevision says 54% male, $77k median income, 33% college degree, 47% white collar, etc.: http://www.cvadsales.com/network_travel_channel.html

This should help you. Sounds like a pretty mixed group.

Okay to start of with your first question the demographic for the Travel Channel is the ages of 25-54 for both men and women.Thats according to the media monitoring firm cablemediasales they say that their, "Target Demographics are based on CAB 2008 Cable Network Profiles."
They further state that this demographic is interested in the Travel channel because of the following reasons below.

"Travel Channel believes in the magic of journeys to change and enrich lives. Travel Channel's programming delivers enlightening journeys, diverse excursions, human stories and unmatched travel information. Travel Channel is a passport to a broader, more fulfilling life through the experience of travel."So I reckon then from the above explanations you get a broad insight into what the average fun of the travel channel is like or is interested in and therefore you can better model them and pitch them effectively. By the way I have seen your site ,i like your goals the part of appealing to the 5.2 million Is quite a grand plan.
Anyway good luck on your pitch tonight,I sure hope I was helpful,Grand Holidays.
