Certain blood pressure medications are used to treat Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD) alongside or instead of non-stimulant and stimulant medications. Stimulant medications for ADHD such as Ritalin, Adderall, and Dexedrine are not generally advised for patients with ADHD with high blood pressure because these medications are known to cause heart problems for some individuals, which can lead to serious health issues. The non-stimulant ADHD medications such as Strattera and atypical antidepressants do have less side effects in relation to the heart. Some doctors prescribe blood pressure medications like clonidine (Catapres) and guanfacine (Tenex) as an alternative to non-stimulant and stimulant medications for treating the side effects of ADHD but these medications have not been found to help with the effects of attention. As to advice towards mixing the medications, I would suggest speaking directly with your doctor as one rule may not apply to everyone and your doctor would know what will work for you. I hope this helps!
