What are the dangers of horses?

Idiot people.
Plain and simple. If you don't know what your doing, horses are extremely dangerous. If you're knowledgeable and have basic motor skills and a functioning brain, they are much less so. However, there are of course horses that are themselves dangerous, such as vicious horses. Getting kicked, bit, or stepped on by a horse are probably the most common danger. A good majority of horse accidents happen on the ground, not in the saddle. I have received injuries from both of my horses both on and off the ground (oddly enough, one on and one off. Haven't fallen off my new horse yet, knock on wood :D) and I've had a lot more off the ground injuries. The most painful of which was nylon rope burns on my hands after my horse decided to take off with his buddies while I was leading him. I couldn't use my right hand (my dominant hand yay) for about a week.
This is an incredibly broad question with endless answers. If you are truely interested in learning the dangers and joys of horses, I suggest you look at http://www.horsegroomingsupplies.com/horse-forums/ . The members on HGS (including me) are friendly and informative and would be happy to answer this question more in depth for you.
