You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Hello @marinad!

These are the commonly abused drugs:
*Cannabinoids - e.g. are hashish, marijuana
*Opioids - e.g. Heroin and Opium
*Stimulants like cocaine, amphetamine, and methamphetamine
*Club drugs like methylendioxymethamphetamine (Ecstasy, Adam, clarity, Eve..etc);
Flunitrazepam
*Dissociatve drugs likeKetamine, PCP and analogs, Salvia divinorum, and dextromethorpan
*Hallucinogens like LSD, Mescaline, Psilocybin
*Other compounds: Anabolic steroids and inhalants

People become addicted to drugs for variety of reasons and the reason for this is due to the chemical makeup of the human brains. Human brains has natural compound like dopamine, endorphins and serotonin which helps people deal with stressful situations, provides sens of power or euphoria and help alleviate pain. There are certain drugs that causes brain to release large quantities of these compounds at a much higher rate than normal which translates into high which a drug user will experience when using these drugs initially. But when they continue to use, the brain becomes dependent on them to produce these compounds and stop to produce enough of them on its own.

Drug abuse can damage the physical, emotional and psychological well being of a person. It can also affect the family, friends, and job. It injures the brain in several ways like hallucinations, mood swings, chemical imbalances, problems sleeping, anxiety and nervous system stimulation

These are some symptoms of drug dependence:
*confusion
*tendency to get violent
*hostility when confronted about being drug dependent
*lacks control
*neglecting to eat
*not caring for physical look or appearance
