The are many different symptoms related to household allergies due to dust mites, pollen, mold spores, dog and cat hair, etc.

Some of the symptoms include itchy, red, watery eyes, sneezing], coughing, stuffy head, nasal congestion and headache. Unless you are familiar with your allergy symptoms, you can dismiss them as symptoms of a cold.

You can relieve symptoms of allergies with non prescription allergy medication such as Claritan, which are non drowsy. They don't work as well as the medication which makes you drowsy but a good alternative if you have to drive. Watery eyes can be relieved with allergy eye drops such as Visine AC or Visine A.

If you control your allergy symptoms regularly you should get too sick with them. You can help prevent them by having air purifiers in the home, removing carpeting or making sure carpets are cleaned regularly.

Allergic reactions to pet animals can cause sever allergic symptoms. In cases of allergies brought about by pets, the allergy-causing substances are contained in the sebaceous glands of the cat's skin or in the dander, saliva or urine of dogs and rodents. These allergen particles are very minute that they cannot be seen by the naked eye but they can penetrate the rugs and bedding.

The symptoms of allergies from pets involves the nose, eyes, and lungs. Nasal symptoms include mild sneezing and nose congestion while lung symptoms range from low grade coughing or wheezing to severe asthma that can persist for hours or days after being away from the animal.

Pollen allergy symptoms are more specific and depends on which type of pollen a person reacts to since different plants produce pollen at different times of the year.
The symptoms brought about by pollen are conjunctivitis, coughing, fatigue, fever, flushing, headache, inability to smell, itching of the eyes, itchy throat, nosebleeds, sneezing, sore throat, congested nose, watery eyes, wheezing, itchy mouth.

On the other hand, mold allergy causes the same symptoms brought about by pollen like sneezing, stuffy or congested nose, cough , itchy eyes, nose and throat and watery eyes. Mold allergies can vary in every person and ranges from mild to severe. Mold allergy can also trigger asthma if a person is asthmatic. Exposure then to molds can cause severe asthma attack. The symptoms of this condition are coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness.
