What are the chances of a child getting diabetes if their parent is a Type 1 Diabetic?

I was just watching Celebrity Apprentice and the singer Bret Michaels was telling Trace Adkins that he was a type one diabetic. Bret then made a comment that it worries him because his daughters are at risk of becoming diabetic because he is a type one. So I am wondering, what is the risk of a child getting diabetes if their parent is a type one diabetic? What about if both parents are? Is there a number, such a percentage representing this statistic? Does the statistic change if the parents are diabetic but not necessarily a type one? Any information would be much appreciated!!

For Type 2 Diabetes:

If both parents have type 2 Diabetes, the child has 50% chance of getting diabetes.
If only 1 parent has type 2 Diabetes, the child has 1 in 7 chance of getting diabetes if the parent had diabetes before 50 and 1in 13 chance otherwise. The risk is believed to be greater if the parent with diabetes is the mother.

For Type 1 Diabetes:

If the father has diabetes, the child has a 1 in 17 chance of getting it.
If the mother has diabetes, the risk is 1 in 25 if the child was born when the woman was below 25 and 1 in 100 otherwise.
If the parent developed diabetes before 11, the risk is doubled.
If both parents have type 1 Diabetes, the risk is between 1 in 10 and 1 in 4.

If parents have a medical history of diabetes, it is most likely that the child will inherit the same. However, a lot depends. Though, diabetes is genetically transferred, several factors are considered before arriving at a conclusion. It is best to get diagnosed early on. K. Hovnanian Children's Hospital offers treatments related to Pediatric Endocrinology; this deals with a child having diabetes and other disorders of the endocrine glands.

Type1 diabetes - body has no or low insulin production, which is caused by autoimmune disorder and only treated with insulin shots.

Diabetes risk factors are high, if you have family history of diabetes, obese, low physical activity and bad food habits.

The chances are 50%. If both the parents poses it then it is around 99%. Because it is one of the genetically heredited disease. The percentage of getting one prone to diabetes depends upon the expression of gene. It may express the disease or act as a career to the next generation.

This is not correct. genetic inheritance does not work like this.

Diabetes Myelitis is a polygenic disease meaning many different genes effect its expression. http://anthro.palomar.edu/mendel/mendel_3.htm
When both parents have Type 1 diabetes, there is only a 20% chance that a child will get it.
