M$French people were about to start the revolution during Louis XV's reign but they didn't dare doing it because there wasn't an opened door and they still respected their king. Furthermore, any attempt of rebellion in any region was repressed with the most horrible violence. Believe or not, it calmed people.
Queen Maria Antonia helped too. Because she spent the money of the country like if this money was hers. She never paid attention to the French people and also created a way for the people to not respect the monarchy any more. Because of her, people would talk to VIP's like to anyone else; which never happened before she came to France. This opened the door to revolution.
King Louis XVI didn't have the same power than his grand father Louis XV or his ancestors, he didn't have as much strength as them either. This also opened the door to revolution.
France saw so many Ministry changes that people didn't believe in those ministers any more. Third opened door.
The American Revolution just pushed the Frenchies to get their own revolution because this proved it was possible to get rid of the monarchy. Fourth opened door.
I would strongly advise you to read this book about it or at least try to find reliable sites for this purpose :)

Please, to avoid a no best answer vote, do not use examville as a source. Examville does not allow a non registered user to quantify your answer and therefore we have no way of knowing it is or is not correct.
There are tons of other sources to use that would have been better and easier for us to use in knowing if this answer was correct.
