What are the causes and treatments for a lazy eye?
I notice one of my friend's little girl has a eye that seems to be turning it. I mentioned it to my friend, and she said that it does that sometimes. I remember when I was a child a girl having to have treatment for this condition, but I can't remember exactly what was done about it. I think my friend should take her little girl to the eye doctor. She didn't seem that concern. I'd like to talk her into it by explaining it in more details to her.

Lazy eye also known as Amblyopia can be caused by anything that interferes with a child’s vision or makes the eyes to turn. This can happen from birth to six years of age.
Strabismus is one of the causes of lazy eye. This is a condition where the muscles responsible for keeping the eyes in place are not balanced.
Another common cause of lazy eye is Anisometropia. This is a condition in which the refractive power of the two eyes are unequal, that is one eyes is myopic (sees things that are nearer) and the other is hyperopic (sees things that are farther)
Blockage of an eye due to trauma, cataract, lid droop and other problems might also cause lazy eye (Amblyopia). Amblyopia is a problem from the part of the brain that controls the eyes.
Amblyopia or lazy eye is usually treated from childhood and can be treated by the use of Eye patches, corrective lenses, Eye drops and Surgery.
