What are the business uses of Facebook Groups?

Remember that Facebook used to have Groups and it became Fan Pages which are now just pages. So what is the new Facebook Groups? It sounds a lot like Yahoo or Google Groups. But how will you use this new feature of Facebook for your business? What are the marketing and sales opportunities?

It does sound a lot like google groups doesn't it? With a few differences. The nice thing about Facebook is that it is a two way communication tool and a business can get some fast communication back from customers or internally on ideas. Business contacts or special groups can be separated out for specific communications communicated with via e-mail. I think this could be great for brain storming ideas with a certain group of people. It could also be used for internal company communication if you do not have a intranet within a company. You could make customer loyalty groups or make it way for customer contests or calls to action with philanthropic ideas. Facebook is also a great way to share business photos, everyone loves photos and interesting business ones(a customer winning something?) can perk up business.

The biggest plus with Facebook groups for businesses is communicating with other customers as well as promotion for your companies. It can also be used to divide your company into different groups as well. For example, want a group strictly for your fellow employees? Than have separate groups for sales as well as your own employees. In many ways, Facebook groups only helps with communicating your companies goals and mission.
