What are the best violin books for a beginner?

My niece is learning to play the violin. She has been taking classes for over six months now, but her tutor still calls her an amateur. She loves her violin; it has become a part of her life. On my birthday, I paid her to entertain my guests and she was great. Her birthday is coming up soon and I want to buy her a book that would help her increase her knowledge of the violin. Does anyone know of a good book for learning violin?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

These are the recommended violin books for beginners:

4.Violin Primer - You will also find illustrations, diagrams and exercises to teach how to do proper bowing techniques and step-by-step instructions to help you learn how to play your instrument. This can be used for adults and children.

I also recommend the Suzuki violin books. These are graded pieces, with Book 1 having the easiest pieces progressing to Book 10. Shinichi Suzuki believed that all children learn well when in the right environment. I feel a little distressed hearing that her tutor "labels" her as an "amateur." According to Daniel Coyle, the best coaches and teachers use small bits of practical information to encourage their students. There is almost no evaluation. Perhaps the tutor could also use a present! In which case, I suggest: "The Talent Code"
