Although sporting events are not the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Memphis, the city offers a number of sporting events and activities.

*Memphis has a National Basketball Assc (NBA) team, the Memphis Grizzlies.
*The University of Memphis Tigers has a team in all of the major collegiate competitions, like football, baseball, and basketball, among others.
*Memphis is also the home of the Liberty Bowl, the college football championship game and hosts the annual Southern Heritage Classic college football game.
*The annual St. Jude Golf Classic is held in Memphis annually.
*The Memphis Redbirds is a minor league baseball team.
*The Memphis RiverKings is a minor league hockey team in the CHL
*The Mid South Quarter Horse Breeders Futurity horse race is held there annually.
