The University of California has a wonderful jazz program at the UCLA campus with famous jazz musicians. New York University has a special major jazz studies for jazz aficionados and often has notables Wynton Marsailes and Herbie Hancock that offer advice. The best part of the NYU jazz music program is that you can perform at such landmark jazz organizations such as Birdland and the Blue Note right in the city. There are also numerous other venues to perform such as Plaza Hotel, restaurants that have live bands, and BB King’s Club, which hosts notables like Gloria Estefan. Berklee school in Boston of course has a good jazz program as does Five Towns College located in Dix Hills, Long Island, New York. All of these schools have great faculty who can provide solid references and contact to help build your career in jazz music.
