What are the best places to see in New Zealand?

Tip for best answer: M$1.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Hi. This really depends on how long you are planning to spend in New Zealand. Some travelers only have time to visit either the North Island, or the South Island. But, as N.Z. is a far a way destination, it is advisable to try to see both Islands. There really isn't a best place, as I am bias, as I was born in New Zealand, so to me, every part is the Best! But I will name a few places that shouldn't be missed!
1. The Bay of Islands this is located at the top of the South Island. Stunning Beaches, Big Game Fishing, great restaurants etc.
2.Rotorua and Lake Taupo, North Island. Rotorua is known for the thermal springs, and hot mud. Lake Taupoand surrounding area, beautiful scenery.
3.Queenstown, Brilliant scenery, skiing, and the Wakatipu Lake area. South Island.
4. Mt. Cook Mount Cook National Park, South Island.
These are just a few places, but there is so much to see and do in N.Z. If you are into Sports and Adventure, N.Z. has it all. Hope you have a wonderful holiday!

From my experience, Rotorua is a great place to visit in New Zealand, especially for walking and seeing the natural beauty of the area. There are 17 lakes and forests to explore. Check out these things to see:

• Hamurana Springs
• Okere Falls
• Ohinemutu
• The Rotorua Redwoods
• Parks & Playgrounds
• Government Gardens
