*Cook from scratch so you don't have to eat out.

*Freeze meals so you can still have a night off once in a while.

*Plan when you are going to go to the store and how much you are going to spend. Stick with it. If needed, take cash only so that you can't over spend.

*Check freecycle.com, 2nd hand stores, and then retail stores for any "big" ticket item that you need to purchase. Better yet, use that order for any purchase you need to make.

*Sell items you don't use or no longer want. If you can't sell them, donate them, get a recite, and then use it as a tax write off for next year.

*Car pool. It's true that gas prices aren't $4.00 a gallon anymore, but you can still save money by carpooling every once in a while.

*Ask for a discount when you pay with cash.

*Shop around for cheaper insurance at least once a year. Raise your deductible in order to lower your payments.

*Figure out how much you pay in interest on consumer debt. Use that as an incentive to pay off debt, and save more money. Also you can call your Credit card companies and ask for lower interest rates.

*Save money on utilities by turning off lights, and other major appliances when not in use. Try hooking them up to a power strip. Also turn your water heater down to 140.

*Check out books and movies from the library. Often times for free.

*Make a list of 20 fun things you can do for $5 or less. That way you aren't stuck doing the same thing over and over again, and you have plenty of things to choose from. Ask your friends and family members for ideas.

*Avoid places where you are tempted to spend unnecessarily.

*Try generic brands at least once.

*Use coupons only when it's an item you would normally purchase.

*Make a realistic budget, that changes every month depending on your upcoming expenses. Budget for things you enjoy, so that you don't feel bad for all the sacrifices you will be making else where.

Some tips on saving money, save lots and lots of coupons, If you save them you can double up when things go on sale and even get things for free. With helping in your bills, when you don't need a light on turn it off, when you aren't using electronics unplug them, yes even unplugging things will make your bill for electric go way down. Do not buy things you don't need, and save whatever you can.

If you do go out to eat, order water. Over time you can save quite a bit on drinks and its healthier for you. On the same note, invest in a water bottle to curb spending on bottled drinks.

Try to cook your own meals from scratch
Use pipe water instead of bottled water
Find a second job if possible
Do research to find other sources of income with your skills
Budget and spent only if there is money.
Reduce the use of credit cards. If using cards, use the ones with no annual fees and give you points against purchase.
Use your points wisely.
I will do some more research and let you know more later

There are lots of ways to cut back on your spending without cutting back on your enjoyment of life. Being frugal doesn't have to cause depression!

Here are just a few examples:
Do NOT carry a balance on your credit card (interest and fees waste big $$$).
Borrow books and movies from your local library.
Turn up your thermostat when you're using your air conditioning (if it's 85 degrees outside, you really don't need your house to be 68).
And everyone's favorite... make your coffee at home instead of spending $3+ for a Starbucks.

pay off your credit cards and cut them up. keep one account open but don't use the card unless it is an emergency and pay it off as soon as possible. the best advice is to live within your means and cut the non-critical spending (i.e., the stuff you don't really need) out.
