What are the best instrumental electronic/ambient artists and/or CDs?
Lately I've been getting into artists like Air, Zero 7, Skalpel and Four Tet. What are some other 'chill', non-abrasive, non-repetitive instrumental artists or cds that you would recommend?
You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Depends on what exactly you mean by "non-repetitive." I am a huge fan of Stars of the Lid, who specialize in drone/ambient music. Their CDs are great, especially "...And their Refinement of the Decline."
I also like Eluvium and Matthew Cooper.
If you want something with more of a beat, I highly recommend Explosions in the Sky, Mogwai, and This Will Destroy You (the latter being one of my recent favs). They are less ambient and more instrumental/post-rock bands.
