M$If any of the conferences are going to be at the Austin Convention Center, the Austin Hilton is the only hotel adjacent to the Center. The rate will be higher here than other properties, but the convenience often out weighs the difference. The Austin Hilton offers in room amenities geared towards business travelers like two phones in each room (each with 2 lines), voicemail and a data port with high-speed, wireless Internet service, and a 24 hour business center. The hotel offers 24 hour room service, a steak restaurant, and a morning coffee shop on site.
Other business friendly hotels in the downtown area other than the Omni and Doubletree that you already mentioned are:
*Hyatt Regency Austin Hotel
*Comfort Suites South Austin (request a room with a work area)
*Extended Stay America Downtown Austin - Although their name suggest that a longer stay is required, reservations for one night are accepted. There is no room service available, but each room has a fully equipped kitchen, and plenty of work space.
If the conference that you're attending doesn't offer special rates at local hotels, when making your reservations, check for other discounts like AAA, AARP or government discounts (if you qualify). Other hotels offer specific rates for the business traveler and may require a business card or a company I.D. Some of the hotels charge extra for the wireless service, so check that before making your reservation. Also pay attention to the cancellation policy. Some hotels have 6 PM day of arrival cancellation policy, some have 24 hours prior, and some rates are nonrefundable. If there's a chance the conference or meeting can be canceled at the last minute, you'll want to have a hotel with a fairly lenient cancel policy.
