DRILLS TO TEACH YOUR KIDS HOW TO TAKE A CHECK
The best way to teach your child how to TAKE a check should be set in steps. Try not to give to much information at once or he or she may become confused.
1. Tell your kids not to take or accept checks from any person they do not know.
2. Make ten copies of blank checks with copy paper make sure the account numbers are crossed out in a way they cannot be read by anyone.
3. Go ahead and write the check out, I’m assuming this check will be for the Kids since You will be teaching them how to “take” checks.
4. After you have written the check or checks out, from the copied form, give one to your child first ask the child to look and see who’s name is on the top of the check, for example: PAY TO _____, ask the child if they see their name on the check, if so then go ahead and take the check.
5. Tell the child to take the check, turn it over and sign on the top line on the back of the check.
You can pretend you are the bank, or store that the child will be cashing the check at.
Make sure and tell the child some identification may be necessary to cash the check, the child may have to be accompanied by an adult. Also make sure to explain never sign the back of the check until the child is ready to cash the check in front of whom ever will be cashing it.
