The answer to that is it depends on your taste. In My opinion the absolute best crime show on television right now is NCIS with Mark Harmon which has been running for eight years. NCIS Los Angeles has spun off from that and is also quite enjoyable. Now if you look at what has been around the longest, it would be Law and Order, followed by CSI. Both are great shows and have had many spin offs that are also very successful. The original CSI is located in Las Vegas, the spin offs are in Miami and New York. On the other hand Law and Order started out by having different focus for each show.
The longest running at twenty years was the original “Law and Order”. After that came the Special Victims Unit at twelve years and Criminal Intent has run for ten years. They have just started the Los Angeles version. The original CSI, located in Las Vegas has run for 11 seasons, followed by the Miami version at nine seasons and the NY version at seven. The official site for Law and Order is http://www.nbc.com/Law_and_Order/ The official site for CSI is http://www.cbs.com/primetime/csi/ and the official site for NCIS is also on CBS http://www.cbs.com/primetime/ncis/. Any show you want to know about can be found at the station web site.
