What are the best cities to study French language?

Tip for best answer: M$0.25
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

If you are from North America, I would recommend Montreal. I've spent some time living there and the cost of living is cheap and there's a "cool" stuff happening all the time. Good night life too if you're into that, which I propose leads to better French acquisition. McGill is there as well, a prestigious university along with a few language schools. It's dang cold though, be warned.

If you are planning to learn the French language in Europe, then Paris is of course your best bet when it comes to learning the language. Learning a language by immersion is often the most effective way to learn a foreign language because you are constantly practicing how to speak the language. In addition, because English is not frequently spoken in Paris, you will be constantly forced to read, listen, speak and write the language.

If you are intending to pick up French in the United States, then one of the best places to learn it is from the Alliance Francais. This is known as the French Institute. Sponsored by the French government, you would be guaranteed the best education in the French language. Alliance Francais has locations in many cities in the US, such as New York City, Washington D.C, and Chicago.
