Hello, there! I am no doctor but I have been taking cholesterol lowering drug in 2006. My total HDL cholesterol ratio at that time was 9.45 which was really alarming. I was prescribed rosuvastatin drug (crestor) for two months only and was advised to have a regular exercise and to eat vegetables and fruits daily. There are other statin drugs, such as, atorvastatin, fluvastatin, lovastatin, pravastatin and simvastatin.
Since I was scared of a heart attack, I was forced to do brisk walking for at least ten minutes daily and I avoided eating fatty foods and red meat. In addition to that, I ate a lot of vegetables daily. After two months, it declined to approximately 8. My doctor then advised me to stop taking the drug and continue doing the exercise, eating vegetables daily and avoiding fatty foods. Presently, my cholesterol level is back to normal.
Good day.
