What are some ways you would change the education system?

Oh wow... where to start... There are lots of big categories to consider, and they're all inter-tangled like a giant web. There are Doctoral programs that deal with nothing but Educational reform...
Here's my very abbreviated version of just some of the things that we need... a group of leaders who are dogmatic about supporting teachers so they improve AND getting rid of teachers who are unwilling or unable to improve. Teachers need to practice what they (are supposed to) teach - i.e. be life long learners, problem solvers and internally motivated. Many curricula need to be revised as they are out dated and not deeply relevant to the futures of our students. I'd like to see new curricula in all subjects focus on problem solving, applying learning, student inquiry and exploration.
If I wanted to implement actual reforms, I'd probably start at both ends - Leadership and Curriculum and use those to leverage an improvement in teaching. There's been lots of research that suggests Teachers are more important to a student's education than other factors like school ranking.
