What are some tips for buying a professional poker table?

My sister-in-law wants to buy her husband a professional poker table for his birthday. She asked for my help, but I don't know anything about poker and poker tables. What should she look for in the table? Do these come in different sizes? Do these come equipped for 4 people or more? Are tables made for particular types of poker? What about make of wood, would something in oak be best? How much should she expect to pay for a nice quality, professional poker table? Where should she begin her search?

I found a useful guide that will teach you what you should know before spending your money to buy a poker table. Here are some facts that you should consider:

-How often you play poker?

-How many players?

-What type of table are you looking for? This is the most important aspect according to the source below. Why? Because there are: Roll Up Tables, Folding Tables, Collapsible Tables, Professional Tables, Premium Professional Tables and even Custom Tables.

You also need to know what type of poker table felt are you looking for and how much are you willing to spend on the extra accessories.

In other words, if you want to buy a poker table, you should be prepared to spend from $45 to $6000.

You are definitely going to need a little more information from your sister about exactly what she is looking for. There is such a huge range of poker tables from the generic to the cutom ordered table.

First off you may want to consider price. You can get a poker table from Target for $59.99 or you can customize a poker table and go as expensive as you want to. If money isn't an option and you want a really nice poker table than by all means go this route. It seems like the average price of average poker tables is around $1500.00.

Decide on a shape. Tables come in circular, oblong, or octagon.

Decide on the number of players that are most often entertained by your brother-in-law. There are tables for eight, nine, or ten players.

The kind of woods available vary greatly, or you can go with the metal fold up kind. Mahogany and maple are very common woods found in those made with wood as well as other hardwoods. Those created out of wood are usually very beautiful pieces of furniture and are not exactly convenient to move or put away. They are best for a room that is dedicated specifically to games. Fold up tables are nice as they can be moved out of the way or from room to room as needed.

Begin your search on line to get a feel for what you are looking for. Once you pretty much have it in mind go shopping. Make some phone calls, compare prices. Also remember to figure in shipping or find places that give shipping discounts.

There are a variety of poker table options to consider. There are poker table tops that can fit over an existing table, foldable poker tables that allow for storage when not in use, or professional poker tables. Your sister-in-law should first consider how many people she would like it to sit and if she wants it as a permanent fixture in the home or as something more temporary and storable.

If she is really looking for a professional poker table that is not storable, then she will also want to consider a poker table design that fits compliments the appearance of the room in which the table will be. Whatever design she chooses, the poker table should have a felt surface. Prices vary greatly depending on the quality and design of the table. It is really up to her to set a budget and then consider appropriate options.

USA Gaming Supply has a good selection of tables, ranging from $500 to $2,000, and allows customers to design their own table if they want. I think this would be a good place for your sister-in-law to start her search.
