What are some of the touristy attractions right near you?

If you could only afford a staycation, what are some of the nearby things you could look forward to?
Tip for best answer: M$1.00
Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Well, I live in a world heritage area, well just on the outskirts, of Sydney. I wont list Sydney as my local area...this is a world class tourist area!

These are just some of the places near me...beautiful isn't it?

Our whole town is a tourist attraction.. actually, the whole state pretty much. Alaska just.. says.. come visit me. In my town in particular though most people come for the Kenai River Kings. They are apparently the largest salmon in the world and can be found only in the Kenai River, hence the name.

Living near the capital city, there are some popular tourist attractions near me, two zoos, a theme park, water parks, Indonesian miniature parks, many museums, and my favorite is the Sea World. I found the Sea World in my country bigger and better than the Sea Worlds I've been to at the neighboring countries. My country has many faults, but the sea lives are absolutely amazing.

The safari park is also great, with white tigers and other endangered animals. And we can hug the baby white tigers in the petting zoo. So cute!

I live in Decatur, IL which is about 34 miles away from Springfield, IL which is the home of Abraham Lincoln. His childhood home is there and also his landmark grave. We also don't live too awfully far from a riverboat casino. Other than that, there really isn't much to do in my neck of the woods. :-)

It's almost not fair for me to answer this question because I am near New Orleans which is a major tourist attraction in many ways but to me especially notable for its jazz and music festivals.
So I'll restrict myself to walking distance from my new home in Abita Springs, LA.
There is the Town Hall, where once a month there is a Cajun fay do do, or dance. Cajun dancing is kept up and popular in Louisiana even outside the main Cajun region.
There is the Trailhead museum, which features traveling exhibits, and is located along the Tammany Trace bicycle trail as it passes the Abita river (more of a small stream, most of the time).
There is the UCM museum, which defies description so I'll just put in a website link.
Best of all, there is the Abita Brew pub featuring all the Abita beers on tap!

I live in Flushing Queens, so I think that the first place which comes to mind for me is Citi Field. Not exactly a place for all tourists, but if you love baseball and your favorite team is playing the Mets, then you might want to go there.

Then there are quite a few museums in Queens, like the Hall of Science, just to name one of many.

And possibly gambling in the future when they put it at the old Worlds Fair site.
